About Pantrist

Pantrist is a pantry and shopping-list app that keeps track of what you have at home, what runs low and what to cook. It works across iOS, Android and the web, and connects to Home Assistant, Alexa, n8n and AI assistants via MCP.

Pantrist helps households stop buying things they already own and stop forgetting the things they don't. You scan or add items to your pantry, and Pantrist tracks amounts and expiry, builds your shopping list, and suggests recipes from what you already have. Recipes can be imported from social media, photos and files, or any website. Lists and pantry sync in real time between everyone in the household. Beyond the app, Pantrist is open: a public REST API, a Home Assistant integration, an Alexa skill, an n8n community node, and a Model Context Protocol server so AI assistants like Claude can manage your kitchen. The core app is free, with an optional Premium tier.

The story

Pantrist is built and run by Nico, a solo developer, out of frustration with wasted food and forgotten shopping items. It started as a personal tool and grew into a full multi-platform app with its own API and integrations, still developed and maintained by one person.
