Shelf life of broccoli at a glance

Keep broccoli unwashed in a perforated bag in the salad drawer and use it soon. Yellowing florets are a sign of age; slimy or musty-smelling broccoli belongs in the bin. Cut it into florets and blanch them for 2 to 3 minutes before freezing.
How to tell if broccoli has gone off
These are guide values for food that has been stored properly. Check how it looks, smells and feels: mould, a sour or unusual smell or a slimy surface mean it should go in the bin. Eat raw meat and fish strictly within these times, and never after the use-by date.
