Cut off the green tops and keep carrots unwashed in a perforated bag or wrapped in a damp cloth in the crisper drawer. Loose carrots often keep longer, bunched ones closer to a week. Slice and blanch them briefly before freezing; throw them out if they turn slimy or moldy.

How to tell if carrots have gone bad

The times on this page are guideline values for food stored properly. Check how it looks, smells and feels: mold, slime, an off smell or mushy spots mean it goes in the trash. Eat raw meat and fish strictly within these times, and never past a "Use By" date.
