Room temperature 2 weeks

Keep them dark, dry and airy, for example in a paper or burlap sack, and away from onions and apples. Somewhere cool at 39 to 43 °F (4 to 6 °C), such as an unheated basement or garage, they keep much longer, while new potatoes keep for less time. Cut away sprouts and green patches generously; throw out potatoes that are mostly green or rotten.

How to tell if potatoes have gone bad

The times on this page are guideline values for food stored properly. Check how it looks, smells and feels: mold, slime, an off smell or mushy spots mean it goes in the trash. Eat raw meat and fish strictly within these times, and never past a "Use By" date.
