Mince belongs on the bottom shelf of the fridge at 5 °C or below; cook it the day you buy it or the next. Packs sold in a protective atmosphere last until their use-by date and should be thrown away after it. Cooked mince keeps up to 2 days in the fridge. In the freezer, fatty mince keeps for much less time.
How to tell if mince has gone off
These are guide values for food that has been stored properly. Check how it looks, smells and feels: mould, a sour or unusual smell or a slimy surface mean it should go in the bin. Eat raw meat and fish strictly within these times, and never after the use-by date.
